Hack your Minecraft Papercraft

by TechAgeKids

Published on February 22, 2017

We used our Rule Your Room Kit to create a Minecraft Papercraft playground. Add a bit of tinfoil and you can create all kinds of fun from light-up ice blocks, a block switch and a swinging pig.

See the full project on Tech Age Kids.

How To Make It

STEP 1 : Make your Minecraft World

Create a cardboard Minecraft world using a Minecraft Papercraft kit. If you don't have one of these, try make your own Minecraft blocks from cardboard boxes.

STEP 2 : Set up your Playground

Paper is not conductive, so you need to wrap tin foil around some of the boxes. There is no right or wrong here. Decide what you would like to light up, move and play a sound and start creating. This is a playground to experiment with all the bits in the Rule the Room Kit.

STEP 3 : Our Creations

To get you started here are some ideas... Attach a Minecraft animal to the mechanical arm on the servo - we used a pig. Let it swing and knock down blocks. Place the bargraph bit inside a transparent block and change the light with the dimmer bit - we used an ice block.

STEP 4 : Block Switch

Wrap tin foil around two cardboard blocks. Clip a crocodile clip to each block and make sure it's touching the foil. Clip on of the crocodile clips to the earth on the the Makey Makey and the other to the space/click connection. When you touch the blocks together it should act as a switch for your circuit.
