Grandma's Blog Update Alarm

by Trish and Baila

Published on July 23, 2014

Our family is currently on a two year RV trip around North America, and we keep a daily blog of our adventures for our family and friends to follow.  Grandma loves to see our daily updates, and sometimes she just can't help but give us a call to find out just when the blog will be updated!  LittleBits to the rescue with the new Cloud Module!  We created an alarm for Grandma, that lights up and buzzes each time our blog has a new post!

How To Make It

1

First, we printed out a photo of our blog heading and mounted it to a piece of card stock for support.

2

Next, we punched holes around the edge of the mounted photo and wove the light wire in and out of the holes.

3

Once the poster was finished, we connected the buzzer, cloud module, and usb modules to the light wire.

4

We then created the ifttt recipe that would send a message to the cloud module.

5

The final step was to connect the "alarm" to the computer and wait for the blog to be updated. Take a look at the video to see and hear it in action!
