Cookie Cupboard Alert

by Girleek

Published on July 22, 2015

How to keep the children (of all ages) out of the cookie cupboard ? Use the lightsensor and the number module to know when the cookie cupboard is open. Each time with IFTTT (an application that let you connect different apps together) receive a notification on your smartphone. Finally, keep the children away of the cookie cupboard, by pressing the button in Cloud Control to trigger the MP3 player and the speaker that will play a scarry "No!". It will also reset the number module.

How To Make It

Set up your cloudBit if you haven’t done so already.

Build the circuit: USB power + light sensor on light mode + number + cloudbit + split connected to number for the first wire and to MP3 Player + speaker for the 2nd wire, which will play a scary "No!" when you will press the button on the Cloud Control of your smartphone.

Set up the notification alert with IFTTT’s iOS Notifications Channel (Android Notifications Channel is also available). The recipe should read: IF my littleBits cloudBit is triggered [the cookie cupboard is open], THEN send me a notification. Check out my recipe below.

Add a sound or music to the SD card provided with the MP3 player. I put a scary "No!" on it.

Place the circuit in the cupboard and wait for someone to open it!
