How To Make It

STEP 1 : BUILD YOUR CIRCUIT

STEP 2 : PRESS THE SERVO HUB ONTO THE SERVO

STEP 3 : PRESS THE SERVO INTO THE SERVO MOUNT FROM THE SIDE AND SCREW IN.

STEP 4 : CONNECT THE MECHANICAL ARM TO THE SERVO HUB.

STEP 5 : USE 5 HOOK & LOOP SHOES TO SECURE YOUR BITS TOGETHER.

STEP 6 : SET SERVO TO TURN MODE.

STEP 8 : POWER ON YOUR CIRCUIT.

STEP 9 : CONNECT YOUR BLUETOOTH LOW ENERGY BITS AND TEST YOUR CIRCUIT.

Open up the littleBits Invent app, go to Bit Controls and choose “ custom control”. Make a button control for the Bluetooth Low Energy Bit that goes before the DC motor and SLIDER control for the Bluetooth Low Energy Bit that goes before the servo. Moving the slider should cause the mechanical arm to move up and down. Pressing the button should cause the DC motor to spin.

STEP 10 : MAKE THE THE FIST LAUNCHER MECHANISM. Bend a paperclip into a small “pin” and attach to the motorMate with thread and tape.

STEP 11 : MAKE THE PIN HOLDER. Bend a paperclip as seen in the photo.The straight end of the clip should fit through one of the center holes on the mechanical arm and the loop should align with the other hole.

STEP 12 : TAPE THE CLIP IN PLACE. Make sure it is secured tightly and doesn’t move.

STEP 13 : PLACE 2 ADHESIVE SHOES ON THE DC MOTOR AND STICK IT TO THE MECHANICAl ARM. Use tape to secure it in place. Make sure the motorMate is positioned just across from the loop on the pin holder.

STEP 14 : ATTACH THE MOTORMATE TO THE DC MOTOR.

STEP 15 : MAKE THE FIST. Carve a notch in a foam ball so that it sits loosely on the end of the mechanical arm. You can also carve it into a fist shape :).

STEP 16 : TIE 2 RUBBER BANDS TOGETHER AND SECURE ON THE OTHER SIDE WITH A PIECE OF THREAD.

STEP 17 : Carve another small notch in the other side of the ball and use glue dots to stick the rubber bands to the foam ball.

STEP 18 : PLACE ADHESIVE SHOES ONTO THE SERVO MOUNT AND ATTACH THE ARM TO A CARDBOARD BOX.

STEP 19 : PLACE THE FIST ONTO THE END OF THE MECHANICAL ARM AND SECURE THE RUBBER BAND WITH PIN. Make sure the pin is touching the thread and not the rubberband, otherwise it may get stuck.

STEP 20 : TEST OUT THE ARM MECHANISM. Move the slider to lift the arm and press the button to pull the pin out, launching the fist.

STEP 21 : MAKE YOUR OWN BAYMAX!

Use paper tubes, cardboard, and plastic bottles to create structure and body armor. Stick them to the box with tape or glue and add some paint! Every Baymax will be uniquely different based upon what materials you have around the house. Maybe you’d even rather create your very own Superhero to join Hiro and Baymax!”

STEP 23 : HOW IT WORKS

  • The p1 power Bit provides electricity to the circuit.
  • The w19 split receives the signal from the power, and sends it along the two wires to the littleBits Bluetooth Low Energy Bits. It also gives more flexibility in placing your Bits.
  • The w30 Bluetooth low energy Bits are connected to the controls on your smart device via Bluetooth. The controls in the littleBits Invent App determine how much signal the Bluetooth Low Energy Bits pass on to the next Bits.
  • The o25 DC Motor spins according to how much signal it receives. When the DC motor spins, it pulls the pin to release the rubberband and launch the fist.
  • The o11 SERVO turns back and forth when it gets a signal from the controls in the littleBits Invent App on your smart device.
