We don’t often hear about high-schoolers and elementary school students getting along, and especially working together! Learn more about the magic these students made with two littleBits Lead Educators.

littleBits Lead Educators Laura Fleming and Billy Krakower’s students joined creative forces by using the littleBits Code Kit. Earlier this year, Billy and Laura were among 20 educators chosen by littleBits to give feedback on the Code Kit by unleashing it on their students. Through both guided and open-ended play, their students created amazing inventions with code, including Star of the Caribbean.

Laura Fleming is a New Milford based high-school library media specialist. She is also a consultant and author of the best-selling, “Worlds of Making: Best Practices for Establishing a Makerspace for Your School.” She features a “littleBits bar” in her library makerspace, and is a huge supporter of participatory making — a method of creation that grants her students stewardship over their own endeavors.

Billy Krakower is an educator at Beatrice Gilmore Elementary School and has co-authored “Connecting Your Students with The World,” “Using Technology to Engage Students with Learning Disabilities,” and “140 Twitter Tips for Educators.” Billy is well known for leveraging a myriad of technology tools to support higher level learning opportunities for all students — particularly those most in need.
