littleBits turns 5 this month!
Can you believe it?! In 2011, Ayah Bdeir brought the first-ever open source, modular electronics platform into existence, and made creating electronic inventions as easy as building with LEGOs. To celebrate, we’re challenging you to invent a celebration creation that would make any party more fun. You can make it at home, but we think inventing is way more fun with friends! So we’re also throwing a gigantic, world-wide invention birthday party.
After all these years, the most important thing to us is still that moment where it all clicks, and you become an inventor. Take the challenge and help us celebrate 5 years of moments.
ATTEND A LITTLEBITS INVENTION BIRTHDAY PARTY
Between September 30 and October 2, Global and School Chapters around the world will be hosting littleBits invention birthday parties – and you’re invited! Check out the list of events here to see if there is one in your area. Or if you’re interested in throwing a party, let us know. Anyone can throw a littleBits invention birthday party, all you need are some Bits! We’ve even developed a handy Workshop Guide that any educator can use and adapt to their own learning space.
TAKE THE CHALLENGE
We want you to help us with the entertainment for this international birthday bash. Your challenge is to use the power of Bits to make the extravaganza a little more fun. Think: a cake that sings to you, your own personal arcade, or confetti cannons galore. You can create your invention at one of the global littleBits invention birthday parties, or build something at home with your own Bits. Either way, you’ll have until October 4 to submit your invention to the Birthday Celebration Creation Challenge.
We will have superstar community judges and prizes galore! The Grand Prize Party winner will receive a Pro-Library for their event location. The Most Inventive Celebration Creation will receive a Kit or Bits up to $200. The Bitsiest Cake will receive a Kit or Bits up to $200.
