Introducing the Pro Library & Workshop Set

Harnessing the Power of Learning by Doing

May 22, 2014

There’s a transformation happening in education that is blending the “learn by doing” maker movement with STEM/STEAM concepts. Whether in traditional or newly emerging maker space classrooms, out-of-school programs, or in community spaces like libraries and museums, hands-on learning is inspiring the next generation of creative thinkers and the educators who are forging these new experiences with them.

“Fortunately for teachers, the Maker Movement overlaps with the natural inclinations of children and the power of learning by doing. By embracing the lessons of the Maker Movement, educators can revamp the best student-centered teaching practices to engage learners of all ages.” — Silvia Libow Martinez and Gary S. Stager, How the Maker Movement is Transforming Education

littleBits has been part of the Maker Movement since our inception. Over the past two and a half years we’ve been inspired by the amazing educators that have used littleBits products in workshops, classrooms and programs all around the world.

“Because of the open-ended and “maker” nature of littleBits, the materials draw in students that may not initially see themselves as future scientists, engineers or mathematicians. littleBits provide an integrated approach to STEM/STEAM content areas.” — Janice Novakowski, teacher consultant for the Richmond School District in British Columbia
