Following the #iLookLikeAnEngineer movement

August 18, 2016

Isis Anchalee started a life-changing movement. A year ago, she created the #iLookLikeAnEngineer hashtag and in that instant, one tweet changed the world.

And what’s amazing is that this hashtag is still going strong. Anchalee reflects, “Because it developed a life of its own, I’m not even aware of the entirety of the extent that it has reached (while Googling I even saw an #iLookLikeAnEngineer event in Munich Germany etc.).”

This is such an important movement because there is no one way to “look like an engineer” or to be an engineer. There are countless ways to innovate, create, to inspire, and to be inspired. We think this is especially important for young female and male inventors as they are engaging in the world around them and harnessing their creative potential. Because anyone, anywhere, can be an engineer.

And, the hashtag is still going strong. Anchalee said that #iLookLikeAnEngineer stories have been shared by over 250,000 users.

So, what does an engineer look like? You and me.
