The Hack Your Halloween Challenge is back and more terrifying than ever

Trick-or-treating will never be the same.

October 5, 2016

Are you ready for another hair-raising invention adventure? After last year’s bone-chilling success, we’re reviving the Hack Your Halloween Challenge this fall for more spooky fun.

We challenge you to invent a costume, prank, or spooky invention then create a scary movie featuring your masterpiece!

You have until the witching hour on Halloween (October 31 at 11:59pm ET) to enter your submission through the site’s Invent page or the littleBits Invent app. Three winners will receive up to $200 in Bits and ghoulish glory forevermore.

You can use any kit or Bits so complete the challenge, but we recommend the new Gizmos & Gadgets Kit, 2nd Edition! It includes a brand-new Bit that lets you control your inventions from your phone or tablet, thanks to Bluetooth wireless technology. It’s perfect for spooky pranks like surprising trick-or-treaters or making your pumpkins light up on command.

INVENTION INSPIRATION
Check out last year’s winners for some positively wicked inspiration:

Pedro Morales and his five young students from the Institución Educativa Isaías Gamboa School in Cali, Colombia won with their Creepy Hand Prank!

Tom Balzamo and his two sons Timothy and Sean took home Bits for their Halloween Hack (Grumpy Old Man Style) invention. We especially loved their how-to documentation!

Jeff Benjamin hyponotized us with his film Creature in the Cap. The video stars future Oscar-winning actor Frankie and a Halloween costume that features a creepy creature made from Bits that lives inside of a hat.

Sabrinabeauty21 gave us nightmares with Saw Pumpkin, a jack-o-latern that lights up and quotes frightening scenes from the movie Saw.

The Alba family made our bones rattle with their Big Hero 6 costumes! Ray’s kids (11 year old son and 6 year old daughter) wanted to be Baymax and Honey Lemon from Disney Pixar “Big Hero 6” for Halloween. After finding nothing at local stores, the family decided to take matters into their own hands and make the costumes.
