The Hong Kong Product Design Makeathon, organized by the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, was successfully held on Saturday (22nd Oct). More than 60 primary and secondary schools were enrolled in the day, and nearly 200 teachers and students attended. In the briefing, the organizer announced the specific arrangements for this competition, including the registration method and submission of the time. In addition, a series of workshop activities will be arranged for students to attend free of charge and one Mentor will be arranged for each team. They will provide technical advice and guidance to the team. Mentors will also assist students with the use of university laboratory equipment to produce works, participants will be more in-depth understanding of product design theory and practice.
The first workshop was finished at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The chairman Dr.Dennis Lo had introduced background information for The Hong Kong Product Design Makeathon and the guildlines for the posposal that candidates need to submitted. Apart from that, Dr. Lo has delivered some product design knowledge for the students that are beneficial for their projects.
This was the second seminar for The Hong Kong Product Design Makeathon launched at Industrial Center. There were more than 50 secondary school teachers and students visiting the IC and industrial level machines including 3d printers, CNC machines, laser-cutter and professional 3d drawing software. Those students got a sneak peek for the discipline content and practice.
