Catch up this Monday to find a timely collection of magical creations from inventors like you. This week’s edition features Ron’s Howler and our 4,000th invention shared with the world.

Community Hall of Fame

Ron’s Howler by Astghik is an animatronic gem.  Once opened, it reenacts the moment Ron Weasley got a “Howler” from his mum.  Says Astghik, “I chose to make a howler because I laugh every time I remember Ron’s face after he opens the message!!!  I made the howler with origami and I put a string to open and close the mouth. I also put a light sensor, so when you put the box back on the howler, it stops screaming. I put an mp3 player to scream the message :)“  Let’s see it in action:

Magic of Invention Challenge

Break out your brooms and get ready for our most magical journey yet! This holiday season, may we present to you the Magic of Invention challenge.

New Magical Inventions

Our 4,000th invention is Learning Spells to Turn On and Off the Lights by Joseph J, a member of our Flint, MI Chapter.  Joseph uses a button, latch and wireless Bits to practice Lumos and Nox spells.

 

Hogwarts Stairways Nico and Gabriel from the Zurich Chapter built their own Lego model of Hogwarts Grand Staircase with a dimmer and servo motor.  Now they can confound Hogwarts minifigures by swiveling stairs from one platform to another.

 

Stop Nagini!  by aklyons.  “Voldemort has set Nagini on you and you need to save yourself! Using your favorite spell and your circuit-made wand, you can stop him in his tracks and get away! This is a fun activity for you and a friend; one controls Nagini and the other stops him!”
