With the "Individually controllable RGBstrip Bit" you can make awesome
lighteffects or notifications for your creations. You can control it
with the littleBits input, the extra potentiometer and the button.
There are 8 modes:

(NOTE: More modus will be available/added when the project reaches
1000 votes!)

1 Color select:
You can choose the color you want with the littleBits input.

2 Equalizer:
For example, when you hook up the microphoneBit you can display the volume.

3 Nightrider light:
You can control the position with the littleBits input. The color can
be chosen by the potentiometer on the Bit.

4 Counter:
Every time when your input detects a rising edge it will count up the
position of the LED. The color can be chosen by the potentiometer on
the Bit.

5 Counter extended:
Every time when your input detects a rising edge it will count up the
position of the LED. The color can be chosen by the potentiometer on
the Bit. Different then the normal counter is that the LEDs will stay
on.

6 Rainbow:
Speaks for itself. You can control the speed with the littleBits input.

7 Rainbow cycle:
The colors will also spin in a circle. You can control the speed with
the littleBits input.

8 Theaterchase:
Every third LED will turn on and cycles. You can control the speed
with the littleBits input. The color can be chosen by the
potentiometer on the Bit.

I hope you like it.

Awesome. If only this could be out in time for Christmas.

    • Philip Verbeek PV-Productions about 2 years ago

Thanks. Yes indeed, that would be great. I could also write a special christmasprogram like a burning candle or something with icicles. Creativity is the limit;)

      yeah.

  • unipegabear about 2 years ago

This is a really cool idea, I hope you get 1,000 votes. Also I think later you should try to make it so you can change the length of the led strip, it would be pretty cool.

    • Philip Verbeek PV-Productions about 2 years ago

I was also thinking of that and it is very easy to extend it in hardware, no problem there. But there also has to be changed something in the software. So I was thinking of an extra "NumberOfLEDSTRIPSselectButton" (which changes the number of LEDSTRIPS in the software) so everybody can easily extend there strip:)

Very cool! I've been looking at littlebits, Arduino module and possibly a Raspberry Pi to control my lights and sound for a Christmas display. My neighbor and I could really use this module!

    • Philip Verbeek PV-Productions about 2 years ago

Thanks! More modes will be available when the Bit reaches 1000 votes. So if you have a great idea for a new mode(Christmasmodes?) Let me know and I will develop them:)

Get a DMX controller if you want to control any kind of lighting
Mostly DJ/stage lights work via a DMX controller and they're fairly inexpensive and readily available.
I get that the idea is to create a mod specifically designed for use with Littlebits. I'm just sayin'

Your so close, I hope you make it because this is the only bit I have voted for.

  • Ryderbike about 2 years ago

Wow this is awsome. I want one. I would give you a vote but you have allready reached 1000. Congratulations!

I got little bits as a christmas present, and ever since i found out about scratch, code, and tnkr, ive been trying to do lots of things w/ my spare time. :D your module is very inspiring and with todays technology i was even able to make my own vertion of flappybird! studio.code.org/c/79184109

Are we going to be able to control the individual LEDs and program sequences for a pixel stick type of long exposure photos some time ?

    • Philip Verbeek PV-Productions about 2 years ago

yes, it will be possible to switch to program mode. This means you can write your own code with the littlebits arduino(special library needed) and make your own specific lighteffects for the ledstrip! Creativity is the limit;)
